Lent 2020 Mindfulness Challenge

Pace is challenging you to take on the following Mindfulness practice every day during Lent (February 26-April 12). Missed a day? Started late? No worries. You can start at anytime. The more you do, the more you will get out of it.

Daily Examen Journal

We believe an important part of growing is reflecting on where you have been.
The Examen Journal is a spiritual practice passed down from the 1500’s. (Come to Pace to pick up a free journal).


Set aside ten minutes for this practice every day – and give yourself grace when it doesn’t work out.

  1. Take several deep breaths to settle into the present moment, here, now.

  2. Review the day and notice what arises.

  3. Reflect on the following questions in your journal:

  • What emotions did I experience?

  • Did I feel a sense of hope, gratitude, or connection? When did I feel the most life-giving energy?

  • Did I feel a sense of being drained, anger, meanness, or isolation?

  • Who is God calling me to be? Are there areas of my life where I need to ask for direction, strength, hope, wisdom, etc.? How do I want to experience the next day of my one wild and precious life?

4. Close by returning awareness to your breathing and give thanks.
